Leão is a football manager, born in 1949 in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, Brazil. He played as a goalkeeper and featured for Comercial, Palmeiras, Vasco da Gama, Grêmio, Corinthians and Palmeiras. Leão earned 80 caps for the Brazil national team.
He began his managerial career in 1987 and guided many different teams, mostly Brazilian and also Qatari and Japanese. Being responsible for Sport Recife, he helped them to win Campeonato Brasileiro in 1987. In 1997 he led Atlético Mineiro to Copa Conmebol and in 1998 he helped Santos to win Copa Conmebol. Leão brought Santos to Campeonato Brasileiro title in 2002 and in 2005 São Paulo claimed Campeonato Paulista under his guidance.
