Erik Lamela is an attacking midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur. He was born on 25 March 1992 in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Erik’s youth career began in the famous Argentine football club River Plate, where he had to pass trials to become one of its apprentices. Lamela had just one academy in his life, the River Plate academy, where he became the supporters’ favorite despite not playing much in Argentina.
In 2009 Erik signed a contract with River Plate as soon as it got clear he would be a first-choice player for the club. Thus, the same year Erik started his professional career which was meant to develop rapidly in the future. Throughout two years Erik scored 4 goals in 36 matches for River Plate and attracted the attention of several European clubs.
That was Roma from Italy that was eager to make the best offer for a young Argentinean.
In 2011 Erik Lamela officially joined Roma and started to perform well immediately at the beginning of 2011/12 season. The Argentinian midfielder is currently one of the key players in the team being very useful in midfield.
After two years with Roma Lamela was lured to Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth €30m.
In 2011 Erik made 4 appearances and scored 3 goals for the Argentina national U-20 team and 1 goal for the Argentina national team.
