Francesco Acerbi was born on 10 August 1988 in Dresano, Italy. He currently plays in defence for Serie A side Genoa.
Francesco started out his youth career at Pavia, breaking into the first team in April 2006. He spent the 2007/08 season out on loan at Renate and Spezia but couldn’t bring out his full potential there and soon returned to Pavia. Overall, he scored 3 goals in 48 appearances for the club.
In 2010, Acerbi moved to Calabrian side Reggina. He pulled off the 2010/11 season netting 2 goals in 40 games for the club.
The next season, a promising defender found himself at Chievo where he enjoyed better fortune playing 14 out of 17 games of the campaign in the Chievo’s starting XI.
In June 2012, Serie A side Milan bought out Acerbi’s contract. After half a year with the giants Francesco was transfered to Genoa. However, his new employer sent him for a loan spell to Chievo.
Francesco Acerbi was called up once for the Italy under-20 Lega Pro representative team to perform in the 2008/09 Mirop Cup opener, which his squad, however, lost to Hungary.
