Geoffrey Dernis is a halfback of Brest. He was born on 24 December 1980 in Grande-Synthe.
He grew up in a team of Lille, where he came being a small boy. He went through all the ‘ranks’ in the club’s youth system, until he was finally taken to the first team.
In 1998, a pro contract with Lille was signed for a term of three years. Although not a first squad constant, the footballer got the priceless playing experience during the spell. In total he made 14 appearances and scored one goal.
In 2001, he got an offer from Wasquehal, Ligue 2. Despite the club was a far cry from the previous one, Geoffrey was unhappy with the situation and was eager to take place in the starting line-up. So he took the proposal and got an opportunity to maintain his playing skills. Over the course of two seasons, he featured in 63 games and netted 11 goals.
After such a brilliant performance, he was given a chance to play for his previous club in Ligue 1. Lille desired to grab the footballer back and in 2003 a contract was penned. Over the course of three seasons, he scored 5 goals in 64 matches.
In 2006, the footballer made a transfer to Saint-Etienne, where he was groomed during the following 3 seasons. Geoffrey took part in the majority of clubs fixtures, making 81 appearances and amassing 9 goals.
His next season would find him at Montpellier in 2009. In 2012, together with the club Dernis clinched the league title after defeating Auxerre. In the short run, he joined Brest.
In the 1996/1997 season, Geoffrey was capped three times for the France national U-17 team.
