Gianluca Grava is a retired center back. He was born on 7 March 1977 in Caserta, Italy.
Gianluca’s professional career started in 1993 at the local Casertana, where prior to that he had studied at the youth academy. Grava wasn’t made a regular from the start of his play for the alma mater. He was periodically included in the starting lineup and used as a substitute but in every appearance he tried to prove his worth. From 1993 to 1997 the Italian defender featured in 84 matches and scored 7 goals for the home club.
In 1997 Grava signed his second professional contract with F.C. Turris. During the 1997/98 season Grava was made a regular but missed some of the matches due to exhaustion after the championship games. From 1997 to 1998 Grava made 28 appearances for Turris.
In the summer of 1998 Grava met the most successful period of his professional career being offered a 6-year contract with Ternana Calcio and a guaranteed spot in the starting lineup. During 6 seasons at Ternana Gianluca appeared in practically every match of his club totaling 143 games and 1 goal.
In 2004 Grava transferred to Catanzaro where he made 15 appearances for the 2004/05 season.
In 2005 after a major reorganization of Napoli the club management carried out an active policy of attracting both young talents and experienced players to the team. Grava was included in the candidate list due to his immense experience. For 7 years Grava was a key defender at Napoli. From 2005 to 2013 Gianluca made 148 appearances and scored 2 goals for S.S.C. Napoli.
