Italian striker Giuseppe Mascara was born on 22 August 1979 in a Sicilian city Caltagirone, Italy.
In his early years, Giuseppe played for such Italian lower-league clubs as Ragusa, Battipagliese, Avellino and Salernitana. In 2001, he joined Palermo newly promoted to Serie B. Mascara scored 9 goals in 38 league matches for the side during a two-year stint. In 2003, he moved to Calcio Catania and had the most successful eight-year spell with the club. Mascara shortly established himself as a regular in the starting lineup. In the 2005/06 season he helped his side to break into the top flight with his 12 goals in 34 matches. Overall, Mascara scored 58 goals in 226 matches for Catania.
In the 2011/12 season, he found himself at Napoli and then had a short spell at Novara. In the summer 2012, Mascara left for the United Arab Emirates and joined the top-flight side Al Ain where plays till the date. He scored his first two goals for the club in a 4-2 win over Al Shabab in October.
Giuseppe Mascara was awarded his first cap to the Italy national team in a friendly match against Northern Ireland in 2009. Thus, he became the first Catania player to ever be capped to the national team.
