Gonzalo Barreto. Biography

Gonzalo Barreto is a striker for Lazio. He was born on 22 January 1992 in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Gonzalo’s youth career started at the Uruguayan Primera División Danubio football academy where he studied for many years. In 2009 the club management decided to promote Barreto to the senior squad as they believed he was ready for the Uruguayan pro football. During the 2009/10 season Gonzalo Barreto was a striker for Danubio with a total of 11 appearances.

In 2010 Lazio expressed their willingness to sign the promising young forward. The talks were short and soon Gonzalo moved to Italy. The head coach though decided that Gonzalo needs more training to adapt to more challenging European pro football and sent him to Lazio academy. Now 2 years of studying at the academy is over and Gonzalo Barreto is ready to become a key striker for Lazio.

In 2007 Gonzalo was capped 6 times for Uruguay U-15. In 2009 he was capped 9 times and scored 4 goals for Uruguay U-17.
