Igor Simutenkov is a former football player. He was born in 1973 in Moscow and began his professional playing career at FC Dynamo Moscow in 1990 and played for them until 1994. Then he moved to Italy signing for Reggiana, where he stayed until 1998. In 1998/99 he played for Bologna F.C. and after that he left Italy for Spain. There Simutenkov had two seasons with CD Tenerife.
In 2002 he moved to American MSL team Kansas City Wizards, where he played until his return to Russia in 2004. He penned a deal with FC Rubin Kazan but until the end of 2005 he made only three appearances for them. In 2006 he had a short spell at FC Dynamo Voronezh and then retired.
Between 1994 and 1998 Simutenkov was called up to represent the Russia national football team and earned 20 caps. After retirement Simutenkov went in for management. He took charge of FC Torpedo-RG, which competed in the Russian Second Division, from 2007 to 2009 he guided the Russia youth team and in December 2009 he became the assistant coach at FC Zenit Saint Petersburg.
