Ilya Tsymbalar was a football player and football manager. He was born in 1969 in Odessa and spent his youth years at Chornomorets Odessa. He graduated in 1986 and since then played for Dinamo Odessa, SKA Odessa, Chornomorets Odessa, Spartak Moscow, Lokomotiv Moscow, Anzhi Makhachkala. He made 3 appearances for the Ukraine national team in 1992 and from 1994 to 1999 he was called up to play for the Russian national team. He earned 28 caps and scored 4 goals for Russia.
In 2004 Tsymbalar went in for coaching. He was an assistant coach at Khimki, in 2006 he was the head coach of Spartak-MZhK Ryazan, in 2008/09 he guided Nizhny Novgorod and in 2010 was an assistant coach at Shinnik Yaroslavl.
In December 2013 Ilya died from heart attack aged 44.
