Jannik Vestergaard (born on 3 August 1992 in Copenhagen, Danmark) is a professional football player who performs for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim as a defender. He has a dual citizenship.
Jannik was born to a Danish father and a German mother. The German relatives of Jannik Vestergaard were also keen on professional football. For instance, his grandfather Hannes Schröers represented such teams as Bayer 05 Uerdingen (known as KFC Uerdingen 05) and Fortuna Düsseldorf. His uncle Jan Schröers performed for the youth Bayer 05 Uerdingen. Unfortunately, injuries stopped him from transferring to the professional team. Jannik Vestergaard began his career with football in the youth Vestia Copenhagen. After stopovers, in 2010 he went to the German side TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. On 16 April 2011, he made his professional debut in Bundesliga coming in as a substitute during the 90th minute, in a 1-0 win against Eintrtacht Frankfurt. The player netted his first goal on 11 February 2012 in the match against Werder Bremen.
In regards to international appearances the Dutch player has capped 4 matches for the U-18, 7 for the U-19, 1 for the U-20, and 6 for the U-21. His debut match for the latter on 28 March 2011 against Portugal ended in a draw 1-1.
