Javier Baraja Vegas is a Spanish football player. He was born in 1980 in Valladolid, Spain. He currently plays for Real Valladolid as a defender and wears the captain’s arm band.
He started playing in his home town for Real Valladolid youth team, later he joined the first squad and made his debut in La Liga in August 2001 against Deportivo de La Coruña, when they lost 0-4.
The next club Baraja played for was Getafe CF. There he spent two seasons and in 2004 joined Malaga’s reserve team. The next season he returned to Real Valladolid and during that season played 28 games and helped them to promote to the top division.
During the 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons he didn’t play a lot and the first goal he scored was on September 13, 2008 against Atlético Madrid.
He was called up for the Spain U-16 and U-17 national football teams and in 1997 they won UEFA European U-16 Football Championship.
