Jean-François Gillet is a Belgian goalkeeper who plays for Torino F.C. He was born on May 31, 1979 in Liège, Belgium.
Gillet kicked off his professional career at Standard Liège in 1997. During the 1998/1999 campaign the shot stopper forced his way into the main squad and registered 3 starts in the first XI. At the end of that season the young goalie signed for the Italian club Monza. Gillet played 37 times, prompting a move to Bari in the year of 2000. Two seasons later the Belgian international was loaned out to Treviso, where he appeared 44 times during the 2003/2004 season. Back to Torino, Gillet immediately installed himself as a top dog in the club`s goal. During the 2000-2011 period the keeper clocked up 317 appearances and was labeled as one of the best goalkeepers in Serie A.
Due to Bari`s relegation to Serie B in 2011 Gillet clinched a deal with Bologna. After a brilliant one-year stint with the Rossoblù the shot stopper moved to Torino F.C.
Since 2009 Jean-François Gillet has become the main goalkeeper for the Belgium national team.
