A Dutch footballer Jens Toornstra acts as a midfielder for Eredivisie club FC Utrecht. Jens was born on 4 April 1989 in Alphen aan den Rijn.
Toornstra spent his junior years playing for the amateur club Alphense Boys. The midfielder played for the youth side for eight years, demonstrating the extent of his temperament and talent. The head coach was impressed by the young player’s performance and recommended him to Den Haag.
After moving to his new club, Jens joined the reserve team, where he earned enough playing experience to become a member of the first-team squad.
The contract for a term for the following four years with ADO Den Haag was penned in the summer 2009. Toornstra made his first appearance for the top team in a match against Willem II. Very soon the midfielder became the first squad’s fixture. He displayed good performance and big clubs, such as FC Twente and AZ, were in for him. Nevertheless, the footballer stayed at Den Haag, signing a new contract, according to which he would play for the club until the summer 2013. In January 2011, Jens scored his first goal in a game with Excelsior. He participated in the 2011 Europa League semi-final, scoring a hat trick in a match against Groningen. In 2013, the player was hired by FC Utrecht.
On international level, Jens Toornstra debuted for the Netherlands U-21 team on 21 May 2010 in a game with Portugal. The midfielder produced his first goal for the national squad in a match against Liechtenstein in the summer 2010.
