João Real is a defender of Académica. He was born on 13 May 1983 in Covilhã, Portugal.
In 2001 the footballer started his career at a professional level. The first club he joined was Estação for which he began to play in the 2001/2002 season. During the first season Real earned a place in the staring eleven several times. This tendency continued in the second season.
In the summer 2003 Real finished his career in Estação and signed a permanent agreement with his hometown club Covilhã. During five years João featured for this team both getting into the starting line-up and making substitute appearances. The centre back scored 13 goals in 106 matches for five years with Covilhã.
In the summer 2008 João Real joined Naval where he spent three seasons. His performance was not as successful as it was in his previous club. The footballer netted once in 31 matches for three years. In the summer 2011 the defender moved to Académica. The 2011/2012 campaign was successful for Real in spite of the fact that he made only 11 appearances and kicked 2 goals.
