Joe Cole

Joe Cole is an attacking midfielder, born on 8 November 1981 in Paddington, England.

John began his youth career in the West Ham academy and spent four wonderful years there. During all that time Cole managed to show himself as a capable, skilled and talented midfielder. He made starts in different youth teams, which surely helped him to become more self-confident.

In 1998 Cole signed the first professional contract with West Ham and joined the first team. He managed to gain the head coach’s confidence in no time, but during that process the midfielder made only a few appearances for the full squad. Joe took part in 126 matches and scored ten goals during five years.

When Chelsea F.C. made refreshment of its ranks in 2003, Joe Cole joined the club along with Frank Lampard. The footballer became one of the club’s pivots for several following seasons. Chelsea head coach José Mourinho supported Joe’s talent and the player developed as an attacking midfielder and winger. Cole represented ‘The Blues’ during seven years and netted 28 goals in 184 matches for them.

In 2010 Joe rarely took part in matches of the club, more often being let on the pitch as a substitute. Cole was offered a contract with Liverpool, which he signed and joined ‘The Reds’ on a free transfer. From 2010 John made 20 appearances for the club and kicked two goals. In 2011 he was sent on loan to Lille, which took third place in Ligue 1 that season. Afterwards he came back to his motherland and reunited with Merseyside club.

Nevertheless, not being a favorite of new Liverpool manager Brendan Rogers, Joe Cole had to leave at the beginning of 2013 and join his former club West Ham United. At the end of 2013/2014 season Cole was released and moved to Aston Villa.

From 1997 till 2003 Cole was capped 17 times for the England national U16, U18 and U21 teams and contributed two goals for them. From 2001 till 2012 Joe played 56 matches for the Three Lions and found the net ten times.
