Jonathon Patrick ‘Jon’ Flanagan is an English full back of Liverpool and the England national U-21 team. He was born and grew up in Liverpool.
In March 2010 Flanagan made his first appearance on the field in the match of Liverpool and Hull City youth teams. Playing for ‘The Reds’ youth team, Jon gained the reputation of a hard and uncompromising back, who had great heading skills and could calmly and coolly preserve the ball during positional attacks of his teammates.
At the beginning of 2010/2011 the footballer made his debut for the reserve team of Merseyside club in the Lancashire Senior Cup match against Oldham Athletic.
Flanagan’s debut for the main squad came in the home Premier League match against Manchester City on 11 April 2011. He played for 90 minutes and helped his team in a hammering 3-0 victory over City.
Then head coach of ‘The Reds’ Kenny Dalglish praised the young footballer’s debut and announced that Flanagan’s success is a perfect demonstration of academy’s good work.
