Jon Stead is a striker of Huddersfield Town. He was born on 7 April 1983 in Huddersfield, England.
In 2002, Jon put pen to paper of a professional contract with local Huddersfield Town after several years in the academy of the club. The footballer managed to clinch a spot in the starting line-up in no time and quickly adapted to the attacking style of ‘The Terriers’, which helped him to find the net 22 times in 68 fixtures during two years.
In 2004, Stead transferred to Blackburn Rovers, but faced high competition for a place in the starting XI, which saw him make fewer appearances. The striker fired eight goals in 42 matches for the team during one year and a half.
In 2005, Jon completed a move to Sunderland and netted one goal in 30 games for ‘The Black Cats’ before being sent on loan to Derby County, where he kicked three goals in 17 fixtures during his spell. After returning to his parent club, the footballer took his tally to two goals in 35 matches by 2007, when his services were secured by Sheffield United. Stead chipped in eight goals in 39 games for ‘The Blades’ during one season and sealed a temporary deal with Ipswich Town, where he made one appearance and went on to net one time. However, that was enough for ‘The Tractor Boys’ to offer the striker a permanent deal. He scored 18 goals in 63 fixtures for the team during two years and finalized a loan move to Coventry City. Jon banged in two goals in ten games for the temporary club during his spell and drew the attention of Bristol City.
In 2010, the footballer penned a long-term contract with ‘The Robins’ and contributed 20 goals in 70 matches for the team before moving to Huddersfield Town.
