Jonas Gonçalves Oliveira started his professional career at Guarani when he was 20. He had a choice either to become a footballer or to continue his study as a pharmacologist. He chose a footballer career that resulted in different achievements. In 2005 for example Jonas became the best goal scorer of the second division with 12 goals and his move to Valencia and a firm place in the national team can also be considered a great achievement.
On January 2, 2006 he was transferred to the reserve team of Santos. He took part in the Paulista League Championship being involved in 5 matches and scoring 4 unbelievable goals. Nevertheless he suffered an injury on the last stage of the tournament. The surgery brought him back to the game and allowed him to play 15 games in 2006.
The following year wasn’t successful either as he was reduced to the reserves. He scored 12 goals for 1.5 years overall.
Jonas signed for Gremio in 2007 and managed to become a firm main squad player by the end of the year. Then he lost the manager’s credit and turned up on the pitch quite rarely so Gremio sent him on loan to Portuguesa (São Paulo). There he again came to be the best with the biggest number of goals in the team – 9. After that he made huge progress in 2009 scoring 14 times before twisting his ankle 2 months before the end of the championship. He made a fabulous return the following season. Showing brilliant technique he managed to score 23 times thus becoming the best goal scorer and clearing his way to Seleção.
He moved to Valencia in 2011. Among his peculiar achievements is the second fastest goal scored in the Champions League history.
