Jonas Ivens is a back of Groningen. He was born on 14 October 1984 in Beveren, Belgium.
Jonas’s professional career took off in local Beveren in the 2003/2004 season. The footballer made four appearances for the club during one year and completed a move to Belgian Third Division side Deinze, where he took part in 62 fixtures and netted two goals during two seasons.
After gaining playing practice, Ivens accepted an offer from Belgian Pro League side Mechelen. The back became the pivot of the club and amassed 14 goals in 118 matches during four years.
Jonas’s impressing performance drew the attention of several European clubs. Dutch side Groningen offered the footballer a regular place and lodged a tempting bid for him. In the summer 2010, Ivens completed a move to the new club on a three-year deal worth €500,000. On 8 August 2010, the back made his début for Groningen in the 2-2 draw with Ajax. Jonas made 53 appearances and fired two goals for the team as of November 2012. In 2013 Jonas performed for Waasland-Beveren and Waalwijk on loan.
