Jonathan Walters is a striker of Stoke City, who is also capable of operating in midfield. He was born on 20 September 1983 in Moreton, England.
In 2000 Walters joined the main team of Blackburn Rovers after being a trainee of the club during two years. The footballer did not manage to make any appearances in his début season and was sold to Bolton the following year. Jonathan spent one year and a half in the new club and went on a six-month loan to Hull City, where he netted five goals in 11 matches.
In 2003 Walters was sent on loan to Crewe Alexandra, but he did not manage to come on the pitch for the new temporary club and penned a loan contract with Barnsley. The footballer spent a part of the season with the team and made eight appearances. The full-scale start of the striker’s career fell on 2004, when he sealed a permanent deal with Hull City. Jonathan took part in 37 games and found the net two times for the club before leaving it.
In 2005 the footballer was loaned to Scunthorpe United, where he made three appearances before moving to Wrexham. Walters featured in 38 matches and fired five goals for the new club. In 2006 the striker transferred to Chester City, where he spent a year before joining Ipswich Town in 2007.
Jonathan managed to completely reveal his talent with ‘The Tractor Boys’. The footballer managed to quickly adapt to the new club, where he became the anchor player of the attacking line and midfield. Walters amassed 30 goals in 136 games for the team during three years.
Being at the peak of his career in 2010, Jonathan drew the attention of Stoke City, which secured his services by penning a long-term contract with the footballer. Walters kicked 13 goals in 74 fixtures for the new club during two seasons and became the pivot of the team, where he continues to perform up till now.
In 2003 Jonathan took part in one game and contributed two goals for the Republic of Ireland national U-21 team. In 2007 he made one appearance for the Republic of Ireland B. From 2010, the footballer was capped nine times for the senior national squad.
