José Manuel Jurado Marín is a Spanish midfielder of Schalke 04. He was born in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Spain.
Jurado is a product of the Real Madrid cantera. On 29 October 2005, Jurado first came on the pitch as a player of ‘The Whites’ in a 2-0 victory over Real Betis, making a sub appearance in the 90th minute of the game. The footballer took part in five La Liga matches and one Champions League game of ‘The Meringues’.
On 4 August 2006, the Spanish player moved to Atlético Madrid for €3 million on a four-year deal. He made 33 appearances in the 2006/2007 season, but sat on the substitutes’ bench in the following season and was loaned to Mallorca. Jurado made a spectacular display in the Balearic Islands in 2008/2009 and became the second top goalscorer of the club. José managed to return to Atlético due to his performance and extended his contract with the Madrid club on 10 November 2009.
In 2009/2010 the Spanish midfielder and his team made a ‘hat trick’ by lifting the Spanish Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and winning the UEFA Europa League.
On 31 August 2010, Jurado completed the €13 million signing for German side Schalke 04, where he joined his compatriots Raúl González and Sergio Escudero. On 4 December 2010, the midfielder scored his first goal in the match against Bayern Munich. He put another one on the list after Raúl’s assist in the game versus Benfica and ‘The Miners’ finished the 2010/2011 Champions League group stage at first place. Later Jurado frustrated Inter Milan goalkeeper by making an assist to Raúl in the quarter-final 2-1 victory.
In the season of 2012/2013 the Spaniard played on loan at Russian side Spartak Moscow.
The Spanish midfielder was called up to the Spain national youth teams and took part in the matches of the U-21 squad. He also represented his country at the 2009 UEFA European U-21 Championship.
