Juan Antonio Rodríguez Villamuela is a defensive midfielder from Spain currently playing for Getafe CF in La Liga.
He started his career as a footballer playing for his hometown club Málaga. Rodríguez being mainly a reserve team player managed to break through to the main squad at the beginning of the 2003/04 season on September 28 in a La Liga game against Espanyol.
However during his next season Juan claimed a firm first team place and managed to retain it for two seasons. During the first full season for Málaga he netted five goals. Regardless of his personal progress the player together with his club got relegated to the second division by the finish of the season 2005/06.
Not to waste time playing in the Segunda Juan accomplished a move to Deportivo de la Coruña having signed an agreement worth €600.000 a season which is relatively little in comparison to his position-mates who previously played for the club such as Lionel Scaloni, Aldo Duscher, Toro Acuña.
During his time at Deportivo Rodríguez was an undisputed starter being applied to different positions in the midfield. After 6-year collaboration with ‘Depor’ the footballer gained 160 appearances with 11 goals.
As soon as Deportivo got relegated Juan signed for Getafe as a free agent penning a 4-year deal at the end of June 2011. His first season for the team from Madrid outskirts wasn’t really profitable. The 30-year-old midfielder gained 17 appearances during the whole La Liga campaign of 2011/12 as Getafe finished 11th.
