Juan Luis Gómez López (aka Juanlu) is a Spanish midfielder.
He spent his youth career playing for a football school of Don Benito and then started to play football for an adult amateur club Marmól Rafael. Juan was transferred to Almería in the Segunda in 2002 where he took the pitch 38 times and scored 7 times during one and a half season subsequently being loaned to Alicante from Segunda B (15 appearances, one goal). After that Juanlu moved to Numancia that played in the Primera. His first appearance for the new club took place in a game against Real Betis on August 28, 2004. He managed to play 27 games and score twice during that season nevertheless his team was demoted to a lower division.
In 2005 Juanlu accomplished his move to Real Betis. There he made his European debut for that team and also made 6 appearances scoring twice. In January of 2006 he was sent on loan to Albacete. For six months’ run with the club the footballer earned 17 appearances (3 goals). The following season was spent also on loan at Osasuna (18 appearances, one goal). Then again he was sent on loan, this time to Córdoba. Having spent there one season with 30 appearances and five 5 goals Juanlu returned to Real Betis but there he was told immediately to look for a new club. After that came a one-year interruption in his career as he trained with Betis but wasn’t registered as a player until Levante became the club to save him.
After the season 2008/09 Juanlu and Real Betis stopped the agreement between the two and the midfielder started to play for Levante having signed a 1-year contract. This year was the best in veteran’s career as he delivered wonderful football and helped his team win promotion to the Primera. Juanlu continued playing on the same level in the season 2010/11 and did his best so that his team could maintain their top-flight position. The campaign of 2011/12 wasn’t as successful due to a serious injury that he got by the end of the campaign. Nevertheless for three seasons the player made a total of 112 appearances and hit the back of Levante’s rivals net 21 times.
In the summer 2013 Juanlu moved to a Greek side AEL Kalloni but moved back to Spain joining Cordoba half a year later.
