Junior Fernándes is a Chilean striker of Bayer Leverkusen in the German Bundesliga. He was born on 4 October 1988 in Tocopilla, Chile.
A product of Cobreloa youth teams, Junior was promoted to the first team of the club in 2007. In 2010, he moved to Magallanes from the Chilean Tercera División A and with his 10 goals in 25 matches Fernándes helped them to win the league that season. In the 2011 season, CD Palestino got interested in a promising young player and Fernándes soon switched to them. In 2012, he transferred to Universidad de Chile but having spent the Apertura tournament with them, Fernándes left for Germany where he signed for Bayer Leverkusen in July 2012 and plays there to date. He got off to a flying European start scoring a goal already during his debut DFB-Pokal match against Carl Zeiss Jena.
In the season 2013/2014 Fernandes played on loan at Dinamo Zagreb.
Junior Fernándes earned his first international cap to the Chile national team in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Colombia on 11 September 2012.
