David Wayne Hoilett is a footballer from Canada, born in 1990 in Brampton, Ontario. At the age of 13 he joined the academy of Blackburn Rovers. Having graduated he didn’t manage to get a work permit and left Blackburn Rovers for Germany, being loaned to SC Paderborn 07. There he made his first appearance in a 3-2 win against Kickers Offenbach on 3 February 2008. He made 12 appearances for the team and left for the 2. Fußball-Bundesliga side FC St. Pauli, where he spent the 2008/09 season. His debut came on 22 August 2008 in the match against Greuther Fürth and Hoilett played for St. Pauli until the end of the season, making 21 appearances he scored six goals.
In the summer of 2009 he obtained a work permit and re-joined Blackburn Rovers, and became one of the team’s key players. He helped the team to the semifinals of the League Cup, narrowly winning Chelsea 4-3 on 2 December 2009. In 2010 Hoilett penned a two-and-a-half contract with the club. On 27 July 2012 he moved to Queens Park Rangers on a four-year deal.
