Kamel Ghilas

An Algerian footballer Kamel Fathi Ghilas was born on 9 March 1984 in Marseille. Now he plays for Reims from Ligue 1. His jersey number is five.

He tried his hand at football playing for Vitrolles. When he was 19, he left his home town and joined Cannes, the participants of the Championnat National. He managed to clinch into the starting eleven, after featuring in 18 fixtures during his first season for the club. By the end of the 2004/2005 season, he was known as an excellent forward, because he contributed 17 goals in 31 games. The next season turned to be almost as fortunate as the previous one – he managed to score 13 goals. Very soon the squad appeared on the relegation-threatened side, that’s why the Algerian footballer moved to the Portuguese side Vitória Guimarães.

In the 2006/2007 season, Vitória was promoted to the Portuguese Liga with Kamel’s help. He netted 12 goals in 29 matches. The following season was as fruitful for the player as the previous one. His outstanding play helped the club to take the third place in the Portuguese Liga, which entailed its getting into the 2008/2009 UEFA Champions League. Nevertheless, a conflict between the club and Ghilas took place. It ended with the footballer moving to Celta Vigo on a free transfer. His first goal for the new club was scored during the debut match against Tenerife, on 28 September.

In 2009, Ghilas signed a deal with Hull City. Ghilas made his debut for the East Yorkshire club on 22 August 2009. During that match against Bolton Wanderers, he belted his first and the last goal for the team. On 30 July 2010, Kamel was sent on a season-long loan to Arles-Avignon. On 10 August 2011, he was already a member of the French club Stade de Reims. That summer he made his first appearance for Reims against Monaco. His team won by 2 points to 1. He brought the first goal for the club in the 47th minute. He managed to score 13 more goals helping the squad to get promotion to Ligue 1.
