Kaspars’s professional career took off in his native country team Auda Rīga. He began to perform for the club from the 1997/1998 season, but made rare appearances on the pitch. The footballer failed to become a regular during his entire spell, but gained priceless playing experience, which was only a start though.

In the summer the same year, Gorkšs completed a move to the new club and netted one goal in 32 matches during two years and a half. In 2006 Gorkšs left Baltic area and moved to England, penning a contract with Blackpool, where he made 51 appearances during two years of professional performance. That was one of the best results in the footballer’s career.
In 2008 London side QPR decided to secure the services of the defender and finalized a deal with him. The following three years were even more successful for the Latvian player, as he continued his steady performance in the starting XI, featured in 121 games and amassed six goals. In 2011 Kaspars ended his QPR spell with Reading move and the head coach of the new club put him in the starting line-up.
