Kevin Mark Phillips is a retired striker, born on 25 July 1973 in Hitchin, England.
In 1992, Kevin penned a professional contract with Baldock Town and amassed 45 goals in 71 matches for the club during two years, which drew the attention of Watford. The footballer transferred to the new team and fired 24 goals in 59 fixtures during three seasons.
In 1997, Phillips completed a move to Sunderland, where he spent six fruitful years and netted 113 goals in 208 games during his spell. In 2003, the striker’s services were secured by Southampton, which saw him make 64 appearances and score 22 goals before the player’s move to Aston Villa in 2005.
The new club performed in the Premier League, which meant Kevin had to make a huge qualitative leap forward. However, the footballer found the net only four times during one season and ruined the plans of the management, which entailed his transfer to West Bromwich Albion. ‘The Baggies’ managed to revive Phillips and encouraged him to kick 38 goals in 71 matches during two seasons.
In 2008, the 34-year-old striker sealed a deal with Birmingham City and continued to come on the pitch despite his age. He took part in 68 fixtures and chipped in 19 goals for the team during three years.
In 2011, Kevin put pen to paper of a contract with Blackpool and contributed 18 goals in 53 fixtures for ‘The Tangerines’ as of December 2012. Later on he joined Crystal Palace on loan terms. Upon Crystal Palace promotion to the Premier League in 2013 the 40-year old was offered a season-long contract with the club. However, he left the club at the end of 2013.
In January 2014 he was offered another spell with Leicester City and helped the team to reach promotion to Premier League. After that success Phillips retired from professional football.
From 1999 till 2002, the footballer was capped eight times for the England national squad.
