Gibbs was a trainee of the Wimbledon youth academy, but moved to Arsenal when his academy was disbanded in 2004.
Kieran began his career at the midfielder position. His first team debut came in the Football League Cup match against Sheffield United. On 31 January 2008, the footballer was sent on loan to Norwich City and returned to his parent club in April 2008.
In 2008/2009, Gibbs often played in the Football League Cup and the FA Cup matches. He made his Champions League debut in December 2008, when the footballer made a sub appearance in the match against Porto.
In April 2009 Kieran got an opportunity to become a regular. He played in the return leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals against Villarreal CF, in the Champions League semi-finals against Manchester United and in six Premier League matches. Gibbs managed to end the season in an appropriate high level, demonstrating a solid play.
The 2009/2010 season was not that good for the midfielder, because he broke a metatarsal bone. It was said Kieran would skip three months, but the recovery was really slow and that is why he was operated on for his foot. That left him without football till the end of the season.
