Kornel Salàta is a defender of Tom Tomsk. He was born on 24 January 1985 in the Slovak town of Kamenica nad Hronom.
Salàta began his youth career in the club's football academy Štúrovo, where he performed until he started playing at the professional level in Slovakia. In 2005, Kornel Salàta attracted the attention of the scouts from FC Matador Púchov during the footballer's trial in Štúrovo football academy. The defender had all the qualities to make a successful career in professional football. Matador scouts informed the academy about their choice, and soon Salàta was offered his first professional contract, which he signed in 2005. From the first match of the 2005/2006 season, he appeared on the field in almost every game for the club. In total, by the end of the season, the footballer had played 29 matches, scoring 4 goals.
In 2006, Kornel signed a contract with Artmedia Petržalka. During the first season in the club, Kornel appeared in some matches, but failed to become a key player of the starting line-up. Since the summer of 2007 he was loaned out to Banská Bystrica, where the Slovakian defender played 17 matches and netted 4 goals. Then Kornel went back to Artmedia Petržalka.
In 2009, Salàta was bought by Slovan Bratislava. In the period of a year and a half, from 2009 to January 2011, Kornel Salàta performed in 47 matches, scoring 5 goals.
In January 2011, Salàta undersigned a professional contract with the Russian club Rostov, performing as a player in the starting line-up. In total, he played 59 games and netted 4 goals before being loaned to Tom Tomsk in the summer 2013.
Since 2009, Kornel performs in the Slovakian national team.
