Léo Baptistão is a Brazilian footballer currently playing as a forward for Atlético Madrid in the Spanish La Liga. He was born on 26 August 1992 in Santos, Brazil.
As a youth Léo played for such clubs as Portuguesa Santista, Rayo Vallecano and San Fernando. In the summer 2011, he signed professional contract with Rayo but played a season for their reserve squad. On 25 August 2012, Baptistão got off to a flying La Liga start as he assisted one goal and scored himself in his debut La Liga match against Real Betis. Thanks to his strong performances Baptistão shortly became a regular in the starting lineup. In January 2013, the Brazilian was one of the targets of big English clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester United, Queens Park Rangers and others. But Baptistão remained at Rayo Vallecano until the end of the season. Then he moved to Atletico Madrid as Diego Simeone was trying to replace departing Radamel Falcao.
