Lionel Cappone is a French goalkeeper. He was born on 8 February 1979 in Marignane, Bouches-du-Rhône, France.
Lionel signed his first professional contract with his local Olympique de Marseille in 1995. However, due to high competition at the club he didn’t manage to play a single official match for Marseille for four seasons and in 1999 Cappone moved to Bourg Péronnas. He enjoyed better fortune there amassing 31 matches during the 1999/2000 season. But his career really took off when Cappone signed for the second-division side Besançon RC in 2000. He shortly established himself as a first-choice keeper at the team and made a total of 128 appearances during a four-year stint. After that Lionel played for Dijon FCO and Angers SCO. In 2006, he joined the top-flight club Lorient where he played for five years but made only 19 league appearances. In the summer 2011, Cappone signed for Brest and played there for two seasons.
In the summer 2013 Cappone switched for Laval.
