Liu Yu is a defender, born on 12 May 1985 in Chengdu, China.
In 2004 Liu Yu signed his first professional contract with Sichuan Guancheng and played there for a year and a half. Liu was quite a frequent guest of the starting eleven and managed to take part in 33 fixtures of the team. In 2006 Dalian Shide F.C. made quite a generous offer for Chinese defender. Yu joined the team and played in 36 matches of his new club during two seasons.
In 2008 the Chinese was transferred to Henan Construction but was able to stay only for one season there managing to take part in 19 fixtures. In the summer 2009 Liu moved to Chengdu Blades. He became the first-choice defender there, took part in 49 matches of the club and found the net once. In 2011 the Chinese joined Jiangsu Sainty but managed to take part in only eight fixtures. From 2012 to 2014 Liu Yu was a player of Dalian Aerbin. Later on he joined Chongqing Lifan.
In 2011 Liu Yu was capped three times for the China national team.
