Luca Cigarini plays at the position of midfielder for Atalanta. He was born on 20 June 1986 in Montecchio Emilia, Italy.
The player’s youth career started in 1997 when he entered Parma youth academy. Throughout 7 years he trained hard and successfully performed at club matches. Due to that Luca was later promoted to Parma senior team.
In 2004 Cigarini signed a contract with Parma FC and joined the major squad. Over a period of four years he played in the reserve; however, he sometimes appeared in the starting lineup. During the first season he was loaned to SS Sambenedettese Calcio for which he starred in 33 matches and netted 4 goals. At the end of the loan spell an Italian midfielder returned to his native club and successfully starred for it till 2008.
In the summer of 2008 Luca agreed to a contract with Atalanta BC which he represented during the 2008/09 season. The player participated in 23 matches scoring 3 goals. In 2009 he moved to SSC Napoli where he spent one season and then was given out on loan to Sevilla FC for the 2010/11 season during which he featured in 6 matches for the club. In 2011 the midfielder was loaned to Atalanta BC and in 2013 signed a permanent deal with the club.
From 2005 till 2009 Cigarini represented Italy at U-21 level making 20 total appearances and scoring 1 goal. In 2008 the player performed in 9 games for the Italy U-23 team.
