Lucky Lekgwathi

Lucky Lekgwathi was born on August 1, 1976 in Ga-Rankuwa, Gauteng, South Africa. Currently he plays as a centre back for Orlando Pirates (he may also take up either right- or left-back role when required).

Between 1997 and 1999 Lekgwathi played for Real Rovers. Unfortunately he failed to become a first-team regular, making only 9 appearances for his club.

In 1999 he signed for Ria Stars where he made 61 first-team starts, scoring three goals for three seasons.

From 2002 on he plays for Orlando Pirates. His consistent performances have earned him skippers’ armband.

In 2002 he has received his first South Africa call-up. He won 14 caps between 2002-2005.
