Maicon Sisenando is a right back for Roma. He was born on 26 July 1981 in Novo Hamburgo, Brazil.
Maicon’s youth career was quite saturated. He studied at 3 different youth academies: Grêmio, Criciúma and Cruzeiro. Sisenando had been playing with the clubs’ youth teams for a few years until he was offered to join Cruzeiro senior squad.
In 2001 Maicon eagerly agreed to became part of Cruzeiro first team. The head coach periodically allowed Sisenando on the field for the young Brazilian to earn more experience. Maicon quickly adapted to playing pro football and in time became a frequent name in Cruzeiro starting lineup. From 2001 to 2004 Maicon Sisenando made 56 appearances and scored 1 goal for the first club in his professional career.
In 2004 Maicon reached such a level of play that many top European clubs offered to sign him. Although there were plenty of offers the Brazilian defender preferred A.S. Monaco one. Moreover he was guaranteed a permanent spot in the starting lineup. For the following 2 seasons, from 2004 to 2006, Maicon played as a defender at the French club. During that time the Brazilian was a key right back with 59 appearances and 5 goals for Monaco.
In 2006 Maicon transferred to Internazionale Milano after signing a 5-year contract. In 2011 Inter extended the contract. Sisenando is a key defender and starts practically every match of the Italian giants. From 2006 Maicon featured in 176 matches and scored 16 goals for Inter.
In 2012 the Brazilian accepted the offer to join Manchester CIty but failed to establish himself in the squad.
In the summer 2013 Maicon returned to Italy and joined Roma.
In the 2009/10 season Maicon was named the UEFA Club Defender of the Year. From 2003 Maicon has been capped 66 times and netted 6 goals for the Brazilian national team.
