Marc-Antoine Fortune

Marc-Antoine Fortuné is a striker of Wigan Athletic. He was born on 2 July 1981 in Cayenne, French Guiana.

In 1998 Marc began his professional career by signing for Angoulême, where he spent four rather successful and fruitful years in terms of making starts. The footballer amassed 20 goals in 63 matches during his spell in the club.

In 2002 Fortuné’s encouraging display drew the attention of Lille. Without any doubts, he was noticed long before, but the management undertook certain steps to make an approach only in 2002. In the summer the same year, Marc penned a contract with the French side team and played for it during two years. After his first season and 16 appearances, the striker was sent on loan to Rouen, where he had a spectacular year. Fortuné scored ten goals in 34 games and became more self-confident, but his Lille career ended in the summer 2004, when Stade Brest bought the player. Marc found the net ten times in 33 matches of the new club and continued his rise in the Netherlands.

In 2005 the striker moved to Utrecht and performed for it during two seasons, making 11 goals in 53 fixtures before returning to France in the summer 2007 so that to sign for AS Nancy. He was a player of the club for a year and a half and managed to score 12 goals in 71 matches. In January 2009, Marc went on loan to West Bromwich Albion, where he made 17 appearances and fired five goals during the second half of the season.

In the summer 2009, the footballer penned a deal with Celtic and chipped in ten goals in 32 matches of the new club during 2009/2010. In the summer the following year, Fortuné ended his Hoops spell with English side West Bromwich move. However, he spent a season there before signing another loan deal, this time with Doncaster Rovers, where the striker performed only for a month before being recalled.

Since 2013 the player has featured for Wigan Athletic.
