Marcelo Estigarribia is a left winger of Deportivo Maldonado. He was born on 21 September 1987 in Fernando de la Mora, Paraguay.
Marcelo’s professional career started in 2005 when he signed his first contract with Sport Colombia. The Paraguayan made ten appearances during his debut season.
In 2006 the young winger joined Cerro Porteño playing in the Paraguayan Primera Division. Step by step he managed to become the team’s undisputed starter. Marcelo took part in 45 matches and fired 6 goals during his two seasons with the club.
In 2008 the player had been noticed by Le Mans FC. Estigarribia got the opportunity to play in one of the best European leagues. The contract was penned in August 2008 but his career in French Ligue 1 wasn’t a success.
In 2010 the Paraguayan was loaned to Newell’s Old Boys playing in Argentinian Primera Division. Marcelo immediately became a core player of the club and made 45 appearances during a year and a half.
In 2011 Estigarribia was transferred to Uruguayan Deportivo Maldonado but didn’t take part in at least one fixture of the club.
In the summer 2011 Deportivo Maldonado loaned the winger to Juventus for €500,000. In 2012 the player was loaned to Sampdoria and later on to Chievo Verona.
Since 2008 Marcelo Estigarribia has been capped for the Paraguay national team.
