Marco Caligiuri was born on 14 April 1984 in Villingen-Schwenningen. He is a German footballer of Italian origin. He is the brother of Daniel Caligiuri, a midfielder for SC Freiburg.
Marco started playing football in BSV Schwenningen, before joining VfB Stuttgart II youth team, where he began his career as a professional football player, but did not appear in a single match. The midfielder continued to perform for the Stuttgart reserve team, which played in Regionalliga. The footballer appeared in 63 matches and netted five goals, which, however, didn’t allow him to get into the first team. In the winter break of the 2005/2006 season the player was given on a loan to Duisburg, where he made his debut against his former club scoring the winning goal. In total he made 31 appearances and four goals for the German club. In the 2007/2008 season Marco moved to SpVgg Greuther Fürth, in which he played in 37 games, but did not get on the scoresheet. In 2010, Marco Caligiuri joined Mainz. There he played for three seasons making a total of 74 matches and scoring four goals.
After that Marco joined newly promoted side Eintracht Braunschweig.
At the national level the football player has appeared in two matches in the German U-20 team, but hasn’t succeeded in getting to the first team. Marco Caligiuri hasn’t scored any goals at the international level.
