In 1998 Storari joined Ancona and helped the club to promotion in summer 2000. Marco’s successful season at Ancona got him the attention of the top Italian Serie A clubs, although an injury ruined his grandeur plans.
In 2002 Marco joined Napoli in a co-ownership deal, but made very few appearances at the club and left for Messina at the end of the season. During his debut season at the new club, the goalkeeper became a regular in the starting lineup and one of the heroes that helped Messina to get promoted to Serie A. In the following season Marco couldn’t prevent Messina from relegation but due to corruption scandal involving Juventus FC they were meant to stay in Serie A.
In October 2005 the goalkeeper was made Italian squad’s third goalkeeper in a match against Slovenia. In 2006 Storari captained at Messina.
On 17 January 2007 A.C. Milan purchased Storari from Messina for €1.2 million and signed him until 2010. Marco was meant to replace injured Željko Kalac. A month later, Storari made his debut appearance for Rossoneri against Livorno Calcio. The next game with A.C. Siena was a hard blow for Marco, as he made some bad mistakes, and was sent to bench.
On 12 August 2007, Marco Storari was loaned out to Levante that at the time experienced severe financial problems. The club couldn’t even afford to pay Storari. 6 months later Marco returned to A.C. Milan and was immediately loaned out to Cagliari. At the new club, the goalkeeper performed to the best of his abilities, and contributed to Cagliari’s staying in Serie A.
On 23 June 2010, Marco Storari joined Juventus in a transfer deal worth €4.5 million.
