A Brazilian footballer Marcos dos Santos Assunção plays as a midfielder for Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras. He was born on 25 July 1976.
In 1995, Marcos signed for Santos, where he had spent two years before a move to Flamengo happened. In 1999, Assunção opted to join Roma, where the following 4 years passed. He managed to clinch into the first XI almost immediately and proved himself to specialise in set pieces. In total, the midfielder made 55 appearances for the first team and netted 9 goals.
The next contract was penned in 2002 with Spanish Betis for a term of 5 years. He became the head coach’s first-choice immediately after the pen was put to paper of the contract. In a match with Deportiva Marcos became notable for netting a goal through a 40-yarder with his left foot. He was the member of the Spasnish club until 2007, appearing 137 times and scoring 23 goals.
The following two years the Brazilian footballer spent playing in the United Arab Emirates. At first he represented Al-Ahli and in 2008 he moved to Al-Shabab.
In 2010, after Marcos had come to his homeland he was scouted by Palmeiras. He became one of the team’s anchor players and continues to show good performance for the Brazilian club.
Assunção made 11 appearances for the Brazil national squad in a period from 1998 to 2000.
