Marcus Nilsson is a back, born on 26 February 1988 in Rydebäck, Sweden.
Marcus’s career took off in Helsingborgs IF, where the footballer cruised through all youth levels and clinched a place in the main team. Nilsson made his professional début on 1 May 2007 in the home 0-1 loss to Elfsborg. In 2009, the back became the anchor player of the team and started to participate in all matches of his club. On 29 March 2010, Marcus netted his first goal in the 2-0 victory over Göteborg. The footballer made 83 appearances and fired two goals for Helsingborgs during four years.
At the beginning of 2011, Nilsson penned a four-and-a-half-year contract with Dutch side Utrecht, where he continues to perform at the position of a centre back up till now. The player’s maiden Eredivisie appearance came on 6 August 2011 in the goalless draw with VVV-Venlo. In 2014 Nilsson switched for Kalmar.
In 2010, the footballer received a call-up to the Sweden national U-21 team for the European U-21 Championship and made his international début in the 4-1 loss to Switzerland. In 2011, Nilsson was capped one time for the senior national squad.
