Marius Stankevičius is a defender for Lazio. He was born on 15 July 1981 in Kaunas, Lithuania.
Marius’ professional career started in 1998 after he joined Ekranas and signed his first professional contract. Stankevičius quickly rose to a regular in the starting lineup and scored 3 goals in 87 appearances during 3 seasons at the club.
In 2001 Marius signed for Italian Serie B Brescia. During his debut season though he didn’t feature much and thus was loaned to Cosenza with a total of 8 appearances for the 2002/03 season. After returning to Brescia Marius became a regular at the home club and by 2008 had a personal standing of 157 games and 12 goals.
In 2008 Marius signed for Sampdoria and scored 3 goals in 44 appearances during 2 seasons. In January 2010 Marius was loaned to Sevilla and made there 16 appearances for half a season. In the summer of 2010 Marius was loaned again to Valencia. During the 2010/11 season Stankevičius made 20 appearances and scored 2 goals for the club.
In 2011 Marius signed for his current club S.S. Lazio.
Stankevičius is a holder of numerous awards: twofold Lithuanian Cup Winner, Lithuanian Super Cup Winner, Copa del Rey Winner and twofold Lithuanian Footballer of the Year.
Since 2002 Marius has been capped 59 times and scored 5 goals for Lithuania.
