Martin Andersson is a retired defender, born on 16 January 1981 in Sweden.
Martin began his junior career at Arentorps. In 2007 the player moved to Elfsborg, where he continued his development until 2000. In 2000 Andersson signed a professional contract with the club and joined the senior squad. The young footballer received limited playing time at first. Nevertheless, Martin did his utmost to earn head coach’s trust and establish himself as a first-team regular. Thanks to his determination and hard work, Andersson acquired a reputation as a strong defender with good tackling ability. The mainstay in Elfsborg’s defense, he is ever-present in the starting lineup. From 2000 Andersson registered 223 appearances for the first team. In 2014 Andersson retired from professional football.
In 2000 Martin Andersson debuted for the Sweden U21 team. From 2000 to 2004 he featured in 10 matches for the outfit.
