Martin Škrtel is a back of Liverpool and the Slovakia national team.
He went in for football at the age of 6 and joined the Prievidza youth academy. Later he played for Trenčín and Zenit St. Petersburg.
On 11 January 2008, Martin signed for Liverpool and has been playing there ever since. His full debut for the new club came on 26 January 2008 in the match against Havant & Waterlooville. Besides, during the first few months the footballer took part in the most important games of his club against Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Everton.
Martin has a whole clutch of honours like the Youth Champion of Slovakia (2001), the Champion of the Russian Premier League (2007) and the Football League Cup holder (2012).
