Martin Taylor is a defender of Sheffield Wednesday. He was born on 9 November 1979 in Ashington, England.
In 1997, Martin penned his first professional contract with Blackburn Rovers and started to make occasional appearances for the club, but serious competition for a place in the starting line-up from his more experienced teammates prevented the footballer from becoming a regular. In 2000, Taylor went on loan to Darlington and took part in four fixtures for the team before sealing a temporary deal with Stockport County, where he featured in seven games. After returning to his parent Blackburn Rovers, the defender took his tally to five goals in 88 matches by 2004.
In the winter 2004, Martin transferred to Birmingham City and spent three years with the new team before being sent on loan to Norwich City, where he fired one goal in eight fixtures during six months. After returning to his parent club, the footballer made encouraging display and got more playing time, which helped him to take part in 99 games and find the net two times for ‘Blues’ by 2010.
In January 2010, Watford secured Taylor’s services on a long-term deal and saw him score ten goals in 90 matches during two years and a half.
In the summer 2012, the defender signed for Sheffield Wednesday. In the season 2013/2014 he performed on loan for Brentford.
In 2001, Martin was capped one time for the England national U-21 squad.
