Marvin Compper was born on 14 June 1985 in Tübingen, Germany. Apart from German passport he has the UK one.
The player started his club career in an unremarkable SV Bühl and the local SV 03 Tübingen. There Marvin spent 7 years of his career, thereafter the defender moved to VfB Stuttgart. Nevertheless, the footballer didn’t manage to get in the senior team and transferred to the team of Borussia Mönchengladbach, it was an amateur team. Compper played there until 2002/2003 and appeared in the matches for the German national team on the amateur level. In 2005 he finally got a professional contract. Soon he became a key player in the autumn of 2006 in the Bundesliga. For Borussia II Marvin performed in 50 matches, for the first team he played almost the whole season – 31 matches. However, other talented footballers pretended to take his place, due to this in the first part of the 2007/2008 season Compper was moved to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. There he became the first team player, playing 17 games in the first season. Later his squad ended season on the seventh place of the table and soon he got into the first team squad. All-in-all, Marvin has played for Hoffenheim in 157 matches putting it in the back of the net six times.
In January 2013 Marvin penned a deal with Italian side Fiorentina.
Marvin Compper performed in the World Championship in 2005 among the U-20 players. His debut took place in November against England. This allowed him to be the first 1899 Hoffenheim player to be capped by Germany.
