An Argentine footballer Mateo Pablo Musacchio acts as a central defender for Villarreal CF. Mateo was born on 26 August 1990 in Rosario, Santa Fe.
Musacchio started his career in 2006, when a contract was signed with River Plate. At that time he was still 16. In 2008, the club became the winner of the Clausura, but the defender made no appearances during that season.
In 2009, Mateo joined Villarreal. At first, the player was selected for the B team. The season was lined with 22 appearances and three goals racked up. In February 2010, Musacchio debuted for the club’s main squad. That was a match against Athletic Bilbao, when Mateo came as a sub. An interesting fact is that Musacchio’s debut coincided with a debut of new manager – Juan Carlos Garrido. The following season Mateo made frequent appearances as a regular player of the starting squad.
On international level, Musacchio used to represent the Argentina national youth side at U-17 and U-20 levels. In total, he made 18 appearances and once scored a goal for the squad. In 2011, the defender debuted for the Argentina full side.
