A French footballer Mathieu Debuchy is a full-back.
His football career started in early childhood when he studied at Lille’s youth system. After ten years spent in the club’s system the footballer was promoted to the club’s starting lineup. That significant event occurred after a winter break during Ligue 1 2003/04 season. The player made his debut on 31 January 2004 in the league match against FC Metz. Mathieu played the whole match which ended with the victory of Lille. Late in the season the defender appeared only in five matches twice playing in the major squad.
During the 2004/05 season Debuchy already participated in 19 matches and scored 3 goals. He netted his first goal against Bordeaux during the 21st round in Ligue 1. From the very start the footballer managed to excel which undoubtedly helped his team to win. The entire season he performed quite confidently. Due to that by the end of the season the team was the second in the league table which guaranteed participation in the UEFA Champions League.
Mathieu continued to play in the major squad but unfortunately on 26 March 2006 during the match against RC Strasbourg the ligaments in his knee were torn. He had to resort to surgery that helped him to get over that ordeal. However that injury led to a six-month absence of Debuchy on the pitch. He missed the UEFA U-21 Championship 2006 by the same token. The defender was lucky to have the coach who dared to extend a contract with the player until 2010 in spite of the injury. As soon as Mathieu recovered he continued his training and performed as good as before the injury.
After ten years with Lille, Debuchy moved to Newcastle United in January 2013. Having made 46 appearances for the Magpies, he was lured to Arsenal in the summer 2014.
Debuchy also played for the U-21 team. On 5 August 2010 the footballer earned a call-up to the major team to participate in the friendly match against Norway. The match was to be held on 11 August 2010. On 2 October 2011 he received his second call-up to the major squad where he came as a substitute for the injured right back. Mathieu Debuchy made his debut as a senior team player in the match against the Albania national football team.
