Matt Phillips is a midfielder of Queens Park Rangers. He was born on 13 March 1991 in Aylesbury, England.
In 1999, Matt became a trainee of Wycombe Wanderers academy and spent the entire youth career there. The coaching staff decided the youngster fitted the position of a midfielder perfectly, because he possessed all necessary qualities. It took the footballer nine years to become self-confident and get ready for a senior start.
In 2008, Phillips was invited to the first squad of Wycombe Wanderers and penned his first professional contract. The head coach trusted the young player and saw him score eight goals in 78 fixtures for the club during two years.
In 2010, Matt attracted the attention of Blackpool, which lodged a tempting bid for the footballer and completed his signing in a short term. Phillips made several appearances for ‘The Tangerines’ and went on loan to Sheffield United, where he took part in six fixtures and found the net five times during his spell. The midfielder amassed twelve goals in 94 games for Blackpool before completing a move to QPR in August 2013.
From 2010 till 2011, Matt featured in ten matches and contributed two goals for the England national U-19 and U-20 squads. From 2012, the footballer has been capped two times for the Scotland national team.
